Home About Steven Ellis

Welcome to Baseball-Pitching-Tips.com. I’m a two-time MLB Draft pick and former pitcher in the Chicago Cubs organization.

I created this website to share practical ideas, strategies, and solutions on how to improve baseball pitching performance based on my own experience and preparation in pro baseball. No short cuts or magic bullets. Just professional pitching instruction, proven training programs and a community to help you succeed.

Here's more about my baseball experience:

  • Pitched in college at Bradley University (Peoria, IL) on a full NCAA Division 1 baseball scholarship (1997-2001).

  • Hold numerous all-time single-season and career pitching records for Bradley Baseball.

  • Earned multiple Missouri Valley Conference awards and honors while at Bradley.

  • Drafted by the Oakland A's (2000) and Chicago Cubs (2001) – signed with the Cubs.

  • Converted from a starter to a closer, and led the Cubs' minor league system in saves and strikeouts per nine innings during the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

  • Named one of the organization’s Top 5 relief pitching prospects by Baseball America, before being sidelined by a fluke career-ending shoulder injury while fielding a ground ball.
